Arsenal Beat Celtics 3-1 and Win the Group Phase

LONDON - In line with predictions, Arsenal strolled into the Champions League group phase. This is because of their 3-1 victory over FC Celtic at at the Emirates Stadium, London(27 / 8).

The victory was confirmed the domination of Arsenal over Celtics. In the first match in Celtic Stadium (19 / 8), the Gunners also won 2-0. As a result, the club with Arsene Wenger Manager goes to group phase with victory aggregate 5-1. This achievement become an important invest to face big match in the English Premier League this weekend. They challenge the defending champion Manchester United at Old Trafford Stadium tomorrow night (29 / 8).


"You always want to have a high confidence when  visit to Old Trafford. Now we have that moment," Wenger said as quoted by Sky Sports.


Victory over Celtic reinforce increasingly sharp attack power of Arsenal. The Gunners bomber has shot 15 goals in four matches. This result of course could not be separated from strategic changes formulated by Wenger this season.


Unlike the last season which use  4-4-1-1 pattern, this time the coach applying  4-3-3 formation. This makes Arsenal play more offensive. It supported by the speed of the Gunners where their player is young in average.


"Our squad against Celtic on average 23-year-old. That means, if we qualify from the group phase, in the next six months we've become a more formidable team," said the French coach.


"Now we want to focus on developing the way we play, the speed of the game, and showed we have made major changes during the game  on Saturday (against United)," said Wenger.


Arsenal captain, Cesc Fabregas didn’t play in that game against Celtic, because of hamstring injure. But the Gunners midfield which filled by Alexander Song, Abou Diaby, and Denilson had dominated the game.
To have the best squad in peak condition when challenging United, Wenger made several changes in the second half. Diaby, Eduardo, and Emmanuel Eboue pulled out. They were replaced by Aaron Ramsey, Arshavin, and Jack Wilshere.


Victory begins with the Penalty execution by Eduardo Da Silva in minute 28. Followed by Eboue (53 ') and Arshavin (74') goals. While Celtic have an entertaining goal donate by  Massimo Donati in injury time.


Decision of referee Manuel Gonzalez Mejuto  to give Arsenal a penalty get negative reaction from the Celtic. Eduardo according to them act diving.
However, Celtic coach Tony Mowbray pretend that Arsenal deserved to win. "I can not see the incident. But, all my players  said there was no contact and no penalty should be," he said. (ham / ca)
