Celtic FC Demand Sanctions for Eduardo

Eduaro Da Silva became ‘a star' with his action on Arsenal versus Celtic yesterday (27 / 8). This Arsenal player were accused of doing diving to get penalty gift. Any criticism to the players rushing this Brazilian player but now defend Croatia National team.


“Eduardo showing disrespect to the game with the action he did. We want him punished. It must be done by UEFA”, Gordon Smith, chief executive of SFA (Scottish Football Association) said, as reported by the BBC.

The incident occurred at minute 28, when Eduardo penetrate into the Celtic penalty box. Celtic goalkeeper Artur Boruc stop Eduardo. In a television replay, there was no contact between Boruc and Eduardo. However, Spanish referee Manuel Gonzalez Mejuto act differently. He was sentenced the Celtic a penalty. Eduardo who became executor could do the task successfully.

“UEFA must take an action to Eduardo and sentenced him. He deserved to be punished, ban two fight”, stated Massimo Donati, Celtic midfielder. “That is absolutely not a penalty. But, this is part of football We can not do anything because the referee decided,''he continued.


According to Donati, Eduardo should receive sanctions such as Lithuanian striker Saulius Mikoliunas which do a similar action when play against the Scots in Hampdent Park in September 2007. At that time, UEFA use match record to give the sanction.

Arsenal coach Arsene Wenger admitted Eduardo action should not bear a penalty. Still, he's defending his men. “Eduardo may be a reason, because the injury trauma” Wenger said, as reported by AP.

''I never asked a player if he did dive to get penalties. But, occasionally they do. I do not think Eduardo would protest if it can not be a penalty,''said the French trainer. (ham / ca)
